The Cisco 1000 series of compact, fixed-configuration desktop routers provides low-cost, high-speed connectivity for branch and small offices. These products offer a range of synchronous and asynchronous WAN capabilities and features.
Cisco 1003
- Multiprotocol routing for small remote sites
- One ISDN BRI S/T port, one console port, field-upgradeable flash and DRAM
- Cisco IOS Software feature sets for IP, IPX and Appletalk protocols, and support for features such as HSRP and OSPF
Cisco 1004
- Same features and software feature sets as the Cisco 1003
- Integrated NT1
Cisco 1005
- Serial port with synchronous speeds up to T1 (2.048 Mbps), 10BaseT Ethernet port, console port, one slot for Flash and one for DRAM
- Cisco IOS Software feature sets for IP, IP/Async, IPX and Appletalk protocols, and support for features such as HSRP and OSPF
Key Features
- Support for Cisco IOS Software; only the IP feature set is supported in version 12.1(1) and higher. No feature sets in version 12.1(X)T are supported
- Support up to T1 speeds
- Integration with enterprise networks that are based on asynchronous serial lines, leased lines, Frame Relay, Switched 56, and X.25 services (Cisco 1005) or ISDN (Cisco 1003 and 1004)
- Setup with Cisco ConfigMaker, a free tool for configuring a network of routers
Cisco IOS Software and Memory Requirements
The Cisco 1000 Series -CH models ship with a default configuration including:
• 2-MB Flash memory
• 8-MB DRAM memory
• Cisco IOS Software IP Feature Set Version 11.2 (20)
Cisco IOS Software Feature Pack part number CD10-C-12.08= contains the following feature sets for Cisco IOS Software, versions 11.2(20) and 12.0(8): IP only (Cisco 1003-1005), IP/IPX (Cisco 1003-1005), Async IP/IPX (Cisco 1005), IP/OSPF/PIM (Cisco 1005), and IP/IPX/AppleTalk (Cisco 1003-1005).
