Cisco 6400 Series

The Cisco 6400 is a new generation of carrier-class service gateways that enable network operators, Post, Telephone and Telegraphs (PTTs), and Internet service providers (ISPs) to break through digital subscriber line (DSL) profitability barriers by delivering a new generation of on-demand, high-speed, high-quality, new world services.

The Cisco 6400 offers a unique ability to make the DSL media manageable to service providers to enable high termination of subscribers. In addition, the dynamic selection and delivery of dedicated network services such as secure access to corporate networks (for both voice and data services), high-speed Internet access, multipoint video conferencing, streaming video, and entertainment-driven traffic are supported.

Cisco 6400
  • High aggregation and termination of DSL subscriber services
  • Service selection gateway and multidomain functionality
  • Benefit of Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality and subscriber access to the network
Key Features
  • Simultaneously supports over 14,000 Ethernet bridged, Point-to-Point Protocol (PPPoA or PPPoE), or combinations of subscribers through one fully configured system

  • Integrated portal capabilities allow service providers to use existing Web-based software programs to create customized network “portals” or services screens, and offer subscribers their own services portfolio
  • Integrated, flexible accounting software options allow service providers to carefully track all the services enabled by the product
  • Cost effective traffic aggregation that includes DS3, OC-3/STM1, OC-12/STM4, Fast Ethernet, and (future) Gigabit Ethernet
  • IP and ATM quality of service (QoS)/class of service (CoS) support including ABR, CBR, and VBR as well as CAR, WFQ, WRED, and RSVP
